EU carbon allowance prices turned an early loss of 1.2% into a gain of as much as 0.7% on Thursday, thanks to a short but powerful burst of aggressive buying late in the session, as bullish traders worked hard to post a positive settlement after the market had spent most of the day testing a key psychological support level.
