France and Spain urge EU to maintain 2035 ban on new fossil fuel cars

France and Spain have urged the European Commission to maintain the 2035 ban on internal combustion engine vehicles when reviewing the EU’s car CO2 emissions regulation later this year, resisting pressure from other member states calling for the ban to be scrapped.
