Brazil approves critical minerals policy as environmental groups flag safeguards gap

Brazil’s Senate on Wednesday approved a national policy for critical and strategic minerals with up to R$7 billion ($1.37 bln) in government incentives, while environmental groups said the framework could accelerate mining without sufficient protections for ecosystems and affected communities.
