China’s forestry carbon sinks grew by nearly 8 billion tonnes between 2003 and 2022, but with sharp regional disparities in efficiency and shifting hotspots, according to new research that calls for refined policies and market mechanisms to underpin the country’s carbon neutrality pledge.
