EU cap on overseas carbon credits could deter investment, NGO warns

The European Union’s proposal to meet 3% of its 2040 climate target through international carbon credits makes it “very risky” for financiers and developers to invest in new projects, according to the author of a major new report examining the role of such credits across the bloc’s climate policies.
