France wants to ‘smooth the curve’ of EU ETS, sees market running out to 2050 -media

France is pushing to extend the EU ETS to 2050, with free carbon permit allocations for industries covered by the bloc's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) also handed out beyond the current 2034 phaseout date, according to government sources cited by French media.
