Open ocean dominates world’s blue carbon removal value, new valuation shows

A new valuation framework has found the open ocean drives more than 90% of the $2.3 trillion a year the world's marine and coastal ecosystems generate in carbon removal value, dwarfing the contribution of mangroves, seagrasses and salt marshes.
