ExxonMobil files legal challenge against EU’s CO2 storage obligation

US oil major ExxonMobil has launched a legal challenge against the EU’s Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA), filing a “notice of dispute” under the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) over an obligation on fossil fuel producers to develop CO2 storage capacity in line with their oil and gas output in Europe.
