UN talks secure nearly $650 mln for land restoration but defer key drought deal

The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) COP17 summit ended on Friday following two weeks of negotiations and almost $650 million of new financial commitments, but without reaching agreement on a landmark framework to strengthen drought resilience.
