EU calls for fossil fuel subsidy phaseout at COP31, moves to curb ETS2 price volatility

The EU’s 27 finance ministers on Friday called for a phaseout of fossil fuel subsidies ahead of COP31, and approved changes to the bloc’s upcoming carbon market for road transport and heating fuels to limit price volatility before its planned launch in 2028.
