Combined Verra, Gold Standard carbon credit retirements down 9% YoY in H1 2026 -report

More than 67 million carbon credits were retired from Verra and Gold Standard registries during the first half of 2026, down from the same period last year, although retirements across the wider voluntary carbon market (VCM) reached record levels, according to a new report.
