Turkiye aims for 36% electrification by 2040, but holds off on coal phaseout

Turkiye is putting electrification at the centre of its national energy plan for 2040, aiming to push power to 36% of the energy mix, while cutting emissions by 40%, the government announced on Thursday, just ahead of the start of COP31 in Antalya.
